During all the flight phases (ascent, cruise and descent) all the windows are subjected to strong fogging and ice formation.
That has been the reason why an insulation between the fuselage and the window shade had become compulsory.
SOLUTION A
Integration of a “U” cross-sectioned gasket along the shape of the second clear glass of the window shade.

SOLUTION B
Integration of a “U” cross-sectioned gasket along the external profile of the window shade.
B solution must be used simultaneously with A solution.

SOLUTION C
Integration of a gasket inserted between the primary structure and the window shade.

The aircraft manufacturer decided to use an all around sealing gasket made in Zotek® OSU Flexible because of:
– Its extremely lightness of 30kgs/cm – Its cellular structure regular and closed cell foam – Its excellent behaviour against water, moisture and condensation – Its incredible adaptabity to the fuselage due to the natural softness of this grade
These gaskets are currently installed on board of new aircrafts and are required during the maintenance.
